Rushing Rivulet Socks

This is the last of the 2 projects I was keeping secret. I’ve scheduled this post to be published about the time the giftee will have received them.

Rushing Rivulet Socks

Pattern: Rushing Rivulet Socks (Rav link), Riverbed sockitecture by Cat Bordhi, published in New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One.
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in colorway Bucks Bar
Needles: 2.5 mm Addi Turbo and Knit Picks circulars
Notes: Originally I thought this yarn was too pastel for my Mom, but on second thought it has a lot of colors in it that she wears, meaning that the socks will go with lots of clothes. The pattern was selected because I thought it would be a good candidate for the handpainted yarn, a pattern that would disrupt pooling and striping.

The one thing that I would be aware of if you use the Rushing Rivulet stitch pattern is that it has a fair amount of stretch so you can probably decrease from your normal stockinette stitch count. These socks are looser than I normally knit, but not so much that they aren’t wearable.

With that, I wish you all Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you! I think your mum will love those socks – they have lavender in them don’t they? 😀
