Lady Bathory Shawl

Sunday, September 30th, 2012

Lady Bathory is Anne Podlesak’s newest pattern release. Her inspiration for this shawl was the Countess Elizabeth Bathory who is tied to the vampire legends of Transylvania.

Pattern: Lady Bathory Shawl by Anne Podlesak
Yarn: Wooly Wonka Fibers Nimue Sock in colorway Around Midnight.
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm)
Notes: Using Anne’s Nimue Sock Yarn the finished shawl has lovely drape and is the perfect fall accessory when there is a little chill in the air.

With a picot edge and beads, this is not the easiest shawl to knit, but if you love the pattern and are not up for those challenges you could certainly opt not to use beads or even to knit it without the picot edge. Though I will say the picot edge is a nice finishing touch.

I also think it would be a wonderfully, warm scarf/shawl for cooler weather if you were to knit it in a worsted weight yarn with nice drape. I had to re-knit one chart repeat to check some numbers and I did it at this weight.
